Featured Artist - Larenn

On the one side, hot anime chick. On the other, all the horny geeks.

Larenn is an artist from Mexico - she goes by Larenn, but also apparently runs Estudio Syanne. I don't know a lot more about her. I say this, because, to my chagrin, my high school Spanish didn't teach me enough to figure out a lot about this hottie-drawing chica.

I will have to let her works speak for her. And let me tell you, they are some wonderfully stylized images that I just couldn't get enough of. Granted, you need to have a leaning towards liking either Anime or that particular Cartoon Network look, but it is well worth it for the azul-skinned babes that come out of this studio down south.

Drem is a project that Larenn did. By translating the description, I think it is: A story about a girl named Neve, who is messed up with various psychological conditions. She sees other worlds and is in love with a variety of unreal phenomenons from the other side.

What these phenomenon are and why she is in love with them, I don't know. But I think I may love Neve just a little bit. Who can resist those big purple eyes? The slender blue form. The coquettishness that she exudes?

I know I can't.

And this is just the start, for Larenn.

She not only hits the azul portion of the spectrum, but also the verde. Kind of zombie-ish, in a non-rotting sort of way. I dig the red glove. And the miniskirt. And the...towel? Scarf? Yeah, I like most of this pic. And the tat is pretty cool too.

I sure wish I was that lollipop...

Purple is up next, with the green eyes of a vixen. I'm not sure if this would qualify as emo, but whatever it does, it qualifies as a great pic. Maybe Psylocke meets depressed teenager?

I think what I like most about this pic is the color balance. It is very vivid, and really, I don't know, pops out at you.

Probably, it has to do with the hoodie. I'm a sucker for a chick in a ratty old sweatshirt. It was the crowd I hung out with in High School, and if I had my druthers, I'd be hanging out with them now.

Except none of them really want to hang out in my mother's basement with me. Or hang out with a guy thrice their age. Or thereabouts.

So, I will admire her from afar, on this the other side of the screen.

Don't look behind you...there's wing shaped words stuck to your back

Another striking use of color, and style. Not much else to say about this one. Other than I betcha those words say "You have giant butterfly wings in the form of words coming out of your back."

This post has gotten along quicker than I thought it was. I am going to put up another pic or two, and call it a day. I just want to say, I love all of Larenn's work. It suits my aesthetic sense, the color, the cuteness, the sleek sexiness, and the overall tone. I give her a bunch of thumbs up. Heck, I wish I was an octopus so I could give her 8 thumbs up.

On a last note, this one was done for her dad. I can only say, if I had a daughter that made such an amazing blue chick for me, well, I would buy her lots and lots of cool stuff. :D

Aion - Tower of Eternity

Like any good MMORPG, Aion has spawned hundreds, if not thousands, of hot fan generated images of their characters. World of Warcraft has its fair share, but from what I've seen, Aion has a corner on the market of lanky, sexy colored chicks.

Elyos and Asmodians do battle for eternity in Aion, fighting over some slight by someone or something. Does the plot matter? Nah, not to me. What matters to me is that a lot of people have made a lot of images of these Elyos and Asmos, and have graciously uploaded them to the internet for us all to ogle over.

While I can't always tell who is good or bad in the Aion pictures I've found, I know one thing - I want to go to there!

One other thing about Aion, and the artwork that it has spawned, is that the productions involved span all manner of art styles: anime, paintings, CGI, digital drawing, and cosplay. So it's been difficult weeding out the pictures I've sifted through and picking just a couple (although, since this is a family friendly blog, I've removed all the Aioxxx images and stored them safely away where no one can see them...)

I reckon my best bet is going to be to post up the images, and maybe say a couple of witty and sarcastic things about each. So here goes.

Orbin by Gen8

 We'll start out with the cute. If you check out Gen8's other works, you'll see a lot of this - round, cutesy manga type images. Which is great. Especially since this version of Orbin harkens back, in my mind, to the wonderful world of elves in Elfquest (yes, they have a Facebook page. Or should that be Elfbook page?)

In her own words, Gen8 describes Orbin as a "...pretty, evil Warrior." Which goes along with what I've said already - it's hard to tell who is good and who is evil. Apparently, evil is cute in Aion.

Oh, and that leads me to another point I'd like to make. I'm sure that my audience is familiar with the phrase "Come to the dark side, we have cookies!", and seen Darth Vader serving up a batch of Shmi Skywalker baked scrumdiddlyumptious chocolate chip cookies. Turns out, it might be Aion that originated that phrase, but because Aion is not as well known as Star Wars, the meme took hold that it was the Sith side that had the baked goods.

OK, where was I? Eating cookies....mmmm...mow mow mow.

Excuse me.

Happily, Blue isn't the only offering that Aion has to, erm, offer.

I've seen a lot of things around the interwebs in my day. Round about page 55-60 of any Google search, gets you into rarified territory if you don't have SafeSearch set to Safe. But honestly, when I came across this blue beaut, I had to ask myself, "How far is too far???"

Not there yet, it would seem.

So, near as I can tell, because a lot of the info on this one is in Japanese, or is just plain, well, plain. But it appears that this is Scyllei (or Scylla), and she is a monster girl. Yeah, I could have figured that one out myself. Fortunately she has a facebook page:

Yeah. So, remind me not to piss her off. In fact, I'll proclaim it right here: If you, Scyllei, don't like anything I've said here or I got anything wrong, please don't wrap your tentacles around me and rip my face off. You can wrap your tentacles around me, come to think of it. But only if you're going to give me some of that Deep Blue Sea. Should I take you out for some sushi first?

Sorry, I promised myself no fish jokes.

Anyway, it seems like Scyllei is from a production company called Shinrabanshou and she might be from a card game. I'd hate to try figuring out how to defend against a luscious monster like Scyllei.

Hatsune Miku

Welcome to the future of pop stars. Hatsune Miku, a vocaloid who hit the scene in 2010. But wait! Doth mine eyes deceive me? Nope - Miku is a hologram, with vocals done by a machine. No more overpaid, popstar diva, crash and burnout antics! Now, we can program our superstars to be exactly what we want them to be: Long blue haired, large eyed, sixteen year old singers who never talk back!

Yeah, if that didn't cause the end of the world, and it didn't happen December 21st 2012, I don't know what will.

So what's more disturbing than a manufactured, misproportioned singer to occupy our horny thoughts? Fans coming out with their own sexy versions of the aforementioned vocaloid! And by "disturbed" I mean "like-minded", "genius" and "thank you very much".
